Chad Gable’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 victory carried far more meaning than winning the Intercontinental Championship. He defeated PENTA at the pay-per-view event and celebrated the career-defining moment with his family.
For the WWE star, the circumstances that led to the match made the achievement feel destined. In an episode of the “Insight” podcast, Gable reflected on his injury, his path toward becoming a singles competitor, and SummerSlam taking place in Minnesota. He explained how the moment allowed him to show his children that dreams can become reality through determination. The Intercontinental Champion said,
“Man, to your point earlier about the circumstances and all these things lining up to lead to one thing. Imagine none of this would have ever happened the way it did, without the injury and all these things. That’s why I say I don’t ever believe in coincidence anymore. Because, oh, it just happened to be that SummerSlam was in Minnesota this year. I just happened to have this trajectory that led me to my singles. There’s no way it was meant to be. I’m confident of that. But I’m also super grateful to a degree that I can hardly describe.”
“It’s the little kid in me got to experience everything he ever wanted that day. A victory like that with your family ringside is almost indescribable, what that can do for you, the six-year-old or seven-year-old version of you that used to dream about this stuff at night, your goosebumps and tears in the ring, and importantly, you got to show your kids firsthand, up close and personal that you really can chase down and accomplish these things that you want.”

Furthermore, in the podcast, Gable opened up about when his parents joined him inside the ring. While the emotional moment was special, his father’s attempt to enter the wrestling ring provided the former El Grande Americano with a hilarious memory.
Chad Gable admitted that he was crying with laughter while watching his dad struggle with the unfamiliar task. He also praised both of his parents for their unwavering support throughout his life and career. Gable credited them for giving him every opportunity and standing behind his dreams. Despite the chaotic ring entrance, he clearly treasured having them beside him. For Gable, the celebration became both emotional and unforgettable. He said,
“Did you watch how my dad got in the ring that night? Oh man, it should be its own comedy hour. My favorite thing in the world, dude. I don’t know if they even got proper footage of it. But I was in tears laughing at that point. My dad is so great. My mom and dad are the most supportive people. They’re the greatest, they raised me great. They gave me every opportunity, full support. Invite them in the ring. I mean, getting in and out of a wrestling ring if you’ve never done it before, it can be a challenge for those. My dad showed just what a challenge that could be. So I’ll just leave it at that. It’s pretty great.”
