Anthony Joshua has left Tyson Fury guessing over his training camp arrangements ahead of their December 11 heavyweight showdown in Cardiff.

Fury has questioned Joshua’s constant changes of trainer after hearing that his British rival has returned to Ben Davison, having previously spent time working with Oleksandr Usyk’s team.

The former heavyweight champion believes Joshua’s repeated switches suggest he is still searching for answers as their long-awaited meeting approaches.

However, there has been no confirmation that Joshua has completely abandoned Team Usyk, meaning Fury may not have the full picture of his opponent’s preparations.

Speaking to The Ring, Fury admitted he was unsure exactly who was overseeing Joshua’s preparations.

Tyson Fury Questions AJ’s Camp

“I don’t know how good of friends they are,” Fury said when discussing Joshua’s relationship with Usyk.

“Because he seems to have left Team Usyk, this unbelievable training team who’s great. And yeah, he’s gone back to Ben Davison, so I’m told.

“The guy who supposedly wasn’t good enough for him when he left him last year. So, I don’t know what’s going on.”

Davison previously trained Fury before the pair parted ways in 2019, adding another connection to the preparations for their December clash.

Joshua has worked with several coaches since his first world heavyweight title defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019, including Rob McCracken, Robert Garcia and Derrick James.

Davison subsequently joined Joshua’s team, while the former two-time unified champion also spent time training alongside Usyk’s setup.

Sergey Lapin, a key figure in Usyk’s team, recently shared an image promoting Fury vs. Joshua, although there has been no confirmation that the Ukrainian’s trainers will be involved in Joshua’s preparations for December 11.

Fury’s comments therefore highlight the uncertainty surrounding Joshua’s camp, with the exact role of his previous training team still unclear.

Fury Questions Constant Changes

Fury suggested Joshua’s approach could be a sign of uncertainty rather than a settled plan for their fight.

“It seems to me that he’s clasping at straws and he’s trying to get anything he can, because he keeps changing fights.

“He’s had five trainers in his last six, seven fights. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I know it’s entirely up to him.

“But it’s, um, he keeps switching and changing, leaving one person, leaving another, so…

“I mean, that’s not a good time.”

The comments come as Joshua prepares for one of the biggest fights of his career against a man who knows Davison’s coaching methods from personal experience.

For now, Joshua is keeping Fury guessing, whether intentionally or simply because the former heavyweight champion is relying on what he has been told.
