**Mike Tyson has admitted he doubts he will fight again but still wants to face Floyd Mayweather, despite their proposed exhibition falling apart earlier this year.**
The 60-year-old former undisputed heavyweight champion told Piers Morgan that he would consider another fight for the right price, although he appeared unconvinced about returning to the ring.
“Yeah. Somebody wants to see me fight and they have the right price, you know, we can do it.”
However, when Morgan asked whether he expected to be tempted back, Tyson offered a different answer.
“I don’t think so. I don’t think so. I’d like to fight Floyd, though.”
The admission puts Mayweather back into the conversation months after the proposed exhibition failed to produce a confirmed date or venue.
Tyson Still Wants Mayweather
World Boxing News reported in April 2026 that the proposed exhibition had effectively fallen apart after months without a confirmed date, venue or meaningful promotional activity.
Mayweather subsequently pursued other opportunities, including a proposed exhibition against Mike Zambidis in Athens.
Tyson’s latest comments suggest that his interest remains, although there is still no evidence of a finalized agreement.
Asked why he wanted to fight Mayweather, Tyson suggested the former five-weight world champion shared his enthusiasm.
“I don’t know. If that’s the fight, he wants to fight, too.”
Morgan pressed Tyson on whether the pair had held discussions about making the contest happen.
“Well, I saw him out one day. We hugged each other, but he’s a weird… We both want… What we want to do, we talked it.”
The exchange suggested that the fighters had discussed the possibility, but Tyson offered no indication that formal negotiations had progressed.

Tyson’s Return Remains Uncertain
Tyson’s reluctance to fight again follows his November 2024 unanimous decision defeat to Jake Paul, which came after a serious medical emergency earlier that year.
As WBN reported on October 10, Tyson questioned his decision to face Paul after waking up sore the following morning and acknowledged that ego had influenced his comeback.
Those admissions provide context for his uncertainty about another appearance, although he has stopped short of ruling out a return altogether.
Mayweather appears to be the exception Tyson is still willing to consider, despite the difficulties that prevented their previous plans from progressing.
Mayweather’s Unbeaten Record
Mayweather has also been linked with Ryan Garcia, presenting a different proposition from an exhibition against Tyson.
Garcia remains an active fighter, while Mayweather has not competed professionally since defeating Conor McGregor in 2017. A sanctioned professional contest against Garcia would put Mayweather’s 50-0 record at stake, unlike an exhibition against Tyson.
The considerable difference in their fighting weights would also require attention before any exhibition could proceed.
Mayweather spent his professional career between super featherweight and super welterweight, while Tyson competed exclusively as a heavyweight.
Their achievements and worldwide recognition would be the main attraction, rather than another world championship.
Tyson Predicts Mayweather Defeat
Despite doubting whether he will return to the ring, Tyson remains confident about what would happen if he faced Mayweather.
There is still no confirmed date, venue or agreement, and Mayweather has not publicly committed to reviving the exhibition.
When Morgan asked who would win, Tyson replied: “You know I’m going to beat his ass.”
