Jurassic World Rebirth is a sequel that surpassed my expectations With interesting characters and an engaging plot. A team of skilled operatives seek to gather genetic material from certain prehistoric animals to help create medicine that can help the world. However the characters face difficulties as the plan turns deadly as they struggle to survive on an island that was dedicated to leave the mutants that could not belong on the park. This journey was engaging and left me excited for the next sequels to come. Despite the many great things about this movie it does have some problems that weigh it down.
Plot
While the story does have a slow start it does help provide the background of characters and makes it so u care about them. However once you get past that initial part this movie is very engaging with plenty of scenes that will make you at the edge of your seat. The main problem is that while the movie is engaging it can often feel not focused. This is mainly because the plot is focused on two groups of characters that get split up on the island. One being the operatives and the other being a family that gets stranded. Sometimes this causes scenes to abruptly end or put focus on a plot point that isn’t as important. While it has pacing issues it makes up with it for the amazing and well thought out events where the characters are struggling to survive. Especially the scenes that take inspiration from the Jurassic Park novels. Such as the scene with the raft and the Trex. Or a part that is familiar to the kitchen scene from the first movie. This doesn’t feel like a rip off but rather a great way to show they know what the fans want and paying attention to the vision of michael crichton’s story. While mostly staying away from plotholes the story certainly has times of questionable parts. Sometimes I was left wondering why would a character do something so stupid or not notice the large carnivore behind them. The worst offender of this is when a snicker wrapper stops a gate from closing causing trouble with a mutated dinosaur. This felt so silly and seemed as if it was taking place in a final destination movie. To my surprise the mutated dinosaurs took a bit of a backseat in the story which caused mixed feelings. We are told this island was for mutated dinosaurs but we don’t see that often. Though to be honest this was a good idea as the dinosaurs are at the focus and the scenes with them have never been better as they battle with the characters.

Characters
The characters are definitely a mixed bag. The main problem is that there are too many characters as some are there just to have them die. But that causes problems as no one cares about the character’s death when you never connected with them in the first place. You can even see this as a lot of characters have a lack of care about those that died. This often made me feel underwhelmed as there is a lack of high stakes because I know the writers are too scared to kill off important characters. The last issue I have is that there are so many characters that their development could never fully grow. Had the family plot line be cut out there could have been a lot more character development on the side of the operatives. My favorite moment of character development is when during moments of distress the character’s true personality shines through and you start to wonder who can and can’t be trusted or relied on. I think the conflict between the group of the operatives should have been fully focused on since the moments of conflict were very engaging. I must say that the characters are very likeable. None of them are filled with tropes or annoying personalities. And for some their character arc was much more fleshed out unlike the past jurassic world movies. All in all I love the characters in this movie. Had it been more focused this movie could have some of the best character work being up there with Jurassic Park 1.

Cinematography and more
They hit it out of the park on this subject. I love how this movie took a darker and more serious tone. This is also added by the amazing camera work and the show not tell factor. As well as the moment of symbolism. For example in one scene where a group of characters are trying to escape inside a gas station a mutant dinosaur steps on a bottle of red liquid going down into a drain to symbolise blood shed or when a toy malfunctioned repeating “I’m gonna eat you alive. Hahaha.” With amazing camera work, creative scenes, impressive acting and beautiful scenery I give this a 10 out 10.
Conclusion
In conclusion, I am happy with this movie. While certainly not amazing it is a movie I recommend for everyone due to its tense plot, numerous fantastic characters, well thought out scenes and awesome dinosaurs. While it does not affect the plot of the franchise enough as a whole I believe this is a very well thought out movie that all should enjoy.
